Japan Chevrolet bicycle

Black Chevrolet FDB16-6Last weekend I saw Chevrolet bicycles at a shop and I'm thinking of maybe getting a 6-speed 20" (FDB20-6) folding type, to replace our old 16" bike with no gears which has become a pain to ride.

I love the looks of the black 6-speed 16" (FDB16-6) (pictured), but I think I'm wanting to get a bike with slightly bigger wheels this time.

Since all my searches lead to pages in Japanese, I believe that these are only sold in Japan!

Do you have any folding bikes over there? I don't recall seeing any before moving to Japan, where they were popular already.

how much are those ???

hey, always wanted to own a chevvy :)

The retail price is about ¥30,000 but they're actually being sold around ¥20,000.

yeah, there are very few.. and they are expensive. [lowest being like 300-400$] and are wayy crappier then the above one. i guess its cause most everyone doesn't live in small space's. so bikes more mostly "recreational".
but seriously. i wonder how i could import one?
hmmmmm.

Bringing one back yourself next time may still be the easiest thing to do. :)

Posted by Peter on July 23, 2004 at 18:11

There are bigger sizes (26") too. :)

Was talking about this bike to a friend and tried to find a picture on the web so here I am.

Funny thing is that I have 2 of these bikes (20") for me and the gf. They're fun bikes.

I have just bought one second hand in Chiang Mai Thailand. It's a GREAT little bike - am really enjoying it!

I just hope it's not mine that was stolen. :)

Btw the registration number was B-82872 (written on a yellow label), or the serial number was DC47400770 (written on the part between the pedals). The color is red, it's a 6-speed 20" Chevrolet.
If anyone finds it, let me know!

Anyone interested in bying a brand-new Chevy 16" folding bike that I bought in Japan? I brought it over to Germany. Used it once. Don`t really need it. Too bad.

Hat jemand Interesse, ein 16 Zoll Faltrad Klapprad der Marke Chevrolet zu kaufen? Ist nagelneu. Nur 1x gefahren. Habe es selbst in Japan gekauft. Nun ist es hier in Deutschland.

Gruß, Steffen

have a red 20'' Chevy Corvette 400hp solid frame in Tokyo for excercise and can't find anything similar in the UK especially at a similar price, kitted mine out with matching mudguards and lights and still well under Y30,000. Think I will bring it to the UK next trip and buy another to use in Tokyo

i bought the same one from a Trading company, but in different color. Maybe you can get one from them also. They said they are the distributors for some bikes and other things?.. i am not sure, they sell in bulk but maybe you can ask for one just like i did,of course they ship overseas when i bought it. i got it in Taiwan. But i am not sure if they accept credit cards i wired mine to Philippines, USD though. My bike came from South Korea. I will leave their email. Its klcint@gmail.com. . good luck~

Nice thread:) Maybe somebody knows where to buy a foldable Chevrolet (or Toyota...) somewhere near Osaka / Kobe / Himeji now? I`m trying to use a local version of the "city bike" ("mamachari") and it`s %$# painful to get around a city here. Unfortunately, I don`t use Kanji and can`t figure out by myself, and really do not want to bother those hardworking guys at the Univ.

Thx in advance...
